Practical Aesthetics?

With the lowering of the threshold for a second staircase in residential buildings to 18 metres/c 6 storeys, the only financially viable solution for some schemes will be external fire escapes; let us hope that planning authorities considering amendments to existing consented schemes or current applications, are reasonable in their approach to the aesthetics or otherwise these schemes will have to start the planning process again from scratch - no doubt with reduced levels of affordable housing a consequence.
